There's a trend in the Mathews household- our computers always die right before the holidays. That's me saying that our current computer has, pretty much, died. There's still a little bit of hope that it may survive and that a new monitor is all we need, but we figure if it's dead it's just following in the footsteps of it's two predecessors... that also died in November. It must be dread of the holidays and all the overuse and abuse it receives from online shopping.
In any case, I've been on Internet withdrawals, unable to access all my favorite places during the day. I greatly anticipate bed time, when I sweetly ask Josh to boot up his laptop for me so I can go visiting.
Since the main computer is comatose, I can't upload any pictures. But I wanted to give a quick update on the past week. Josh was on vacation and got tons done around the house. The kids' swingset is up, all the firewood is in, the storage unit is empty and the garage is busting at the seems. Josh and his Dad spent lots of time hunting and very little time finding. I mowed the hayfield (AKA the lawn), much to Fluffy and Gilbert's chagrin. It has been their primary hunting ground for mice. I can see Fluffy in the backyard in what was once tall grass, looking about her in confusion and sadness. Where did my field go? she wonders. Gilbert, on the other hand, continues to bring home an average of two mice a day. He moves on much more quickly than Fluff.
Josh celebrated his 36th birthday on Veteran's Day. We had a family breakfast at the house with a few gifts and then a day out for the two of us.
For the first time ever, I will be hosting Thanksgiving. I've been busy planning the menu and stocking up on the needed cooking supplies. While I'm anxious for Thanksgiving, my mind drifts frequently toward the day after Thanksgiving, when we'll deck the halls for Christmas, our first in our new home.
Kathryn is talking up a storm lately and it's just too cute! New words are taking shape every day and lots of sentences too, most including the word "my". All three of the kids are growing, growing. Isabelle's Christmas pjs from last year are like capri pants on her and sometimes I look at Caleb and think he looks more like a young man than a little boy.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers if I happen to not post before then!
